Long reach excavators and high reach excavators are digging machines with an extended boom that is longer than the typical excavators. A long reach excavator is built to expand the working range or operating radius of the digger so that the excavator can reach higher, deeper and farther. The long reach diggers are widely used in many working conditions, including mining, wharfs, warehouses, building demolition, dredging canals or rivers, flood relief and other special conditions. Compared with the structure of a typical excavator, the long reach excavator differs in the following aspects such as main boom, extended boom, boom cylinder, extended boom cylinder, excavator bucket and bucket cylinder. The extended boom is attached on the top of the main boom and a corresponding cylinder is added to the working device, with a cylinder control system added in the cabin so that the operator can control the extension and retraction of the boom. 


The long reach excavators have many advantages. For instance, the long reach excavators can significantly increase the working efficiency with high mechanization thus save more labor cost for the customer. To use long reach excavator in construction can greatly ensure the safety of the operator because, with the extend boom the operator can keep a longer distance from the object and reduce the danger of being hurt especially in housing demolition projects. How to choose a second-hand excavator with high performance



Choosing a satisfying second-hand excavator needs comprehensive inspection. We should not only check the appearance of the excavator but also take a test drive which can detect the real performance of the second-hand excavator.

An excavator has a self-inspection process when it is connected to power like cars. During the process, various kinds of sensors begin to work, gathering information such as water temperature, oil temperature and fault message. The information and some fault codes can be displayed on the monitor. The time period for the self-inspection varies among different types of excavators, but the average time is approximately ten seconds. When you start the engine of the excavator, you can stand by the engine to hear its sound. The engine quality can be detected from whether the engine has abnormal sound. The starting time can also reflect some problems. Long time starting indicates that there exist some problems of the engine. The service life of the engine will be greatly shortened due to the enormous electric current.
The engine’s exhaust condition should also be examined. If there is a small quantity of black smoke when the excavator just starts and disappears later, it is the normal condition due to the insufficient burning of diesel.  But if there is white smoke, it indicates the abnormal situation. The white smoke might be water vapor or diesel vapor. Water vapor means water flows into the cylinder and diesel vapor means the engine’s time distribution has some problem. Some diesel has been ejected without burning.

Contrastive Analysis of Wheel Excavator and Crawler Excavator





Wheel excavator moves easily, and mainly for some small project in the city, cannot be used in very soft ground. Crawler excavator cannot move on the road, but can work in some muddy ground, and will not be trapped. Crawler excavator’s machine body is bigger and work efficiency is higher than wheel excavator.
Advantages: Efficient for large contact ground area, muddy construction sites, wet lands and other area that easily get stuck; crawler excavator’s comparative heavy self-weight makes it go various more extensive areas; for the crawler belt made of medal ware, the crawler excavator is also qualified to work in those inadequate operating conditions.
Disadvantages: Comparatively speaking, crawler excavator needs more investment, and its movability is not that good with the fastest designing speed being 5-7KM/H, and long distance movement can only depend on dray.
Wheel excavator:
Advantages:  less investment, faster speed with normally 40-50KM/H.
Disadvantages: narrow using range, mostly used in road and city engineering projects. It cannot be operated in mines or muddy wet terrain, and the climbing ability is not very good. So for now, most customers are tend to choose crawler excavators.
